Winter Squid And Other Blasts From The Past

I don’t watch them very regularly, but every once in a while I like to glance through the search engine terms that result in hits on my blog just to see where some of the traffic is coming from. So far, the strangest ones have all involved the word “pedo” thanks to this post which subsequently led me to making it an actual song only because I must fulfill all of Alas’ wishes.

My top 5 search terms, however, are Firelands (likely because of this lame attempt at humor), bunny with a pancake on it’s head (i didn’t actually write a post about this, but I did use the image), the word Elfi (go figure), elementium hammer (i haz one) and rounding out the top 5 – winter squid. Although this top 5 list isn’t truly accurate because most of my search term hits revolve around the mysterious floating cat head in Uldum. It’s just that the phrase is typed in so many different ways, it doesn’t all get counted together.

Back on point, my previous winter squid post is basically still very accurate. I think the only thing that has changed is there are now 2 less fish required for The Oceanographer achievement. But because it’s heavily searched for and because it’s that time of year where winter squid are getting ready to vanish, I wanted to bring attention to it once again.

Sidebar: Going through my search terms got me started reading through some of my old posts. Reading through some of my old posts resulted in following pingbacks to other blogs. Revisiting this post really struck a nerve with me and briefly brought back the memory of how horrible all that drama was. But the pingback on that post led me to this post. I can’t decide if these types of posts are on the pro list or the con list for having a blog. Reading the whole thing now just makes me sad. It’d be nice if there were no record of these types of things. But at the same time I am reading these posts over a year later and not only have Alas and I remained friends, we are even better friends. I would even go so far as to call her one of my bestest friends (I don’t require much :P) and certainly one of my all-time favorite people. So in that respect, it’s kind of cool to have this documented. But it still makes me sad. I think we awkwardly worked through everything at the time it was all happening because it was important we remained friends, but I will be the first to admit I carried some hurt feelings with me for a while and I wish I hadn’t. It’s all gone now, of course. But even leaving me out of the equation, I am sad that any of this happened to Alas. Why am I pointing it out and bringing it all up again? I have no idea. Like I said, I accidentally stumbled across it and it made me very melancholy. I guess I’m putting a spotlight on it here because it’s something she and I have sort of gotten past without revisiting and I would like to just make sure she’s officially aware that I am sorry if any of my words or actions added to the stress and the mess. Alas, you’re the best and I ❤ you. And hopefully bringing this all back to the surface and me being all publicly mushy hasn't embarrassed you.

This Should Totally Trend On Twitter…

It’s a rather daunting task (thanks to all the gold farmers and hackers who post videos constantly) but I like to type “world of warcraft” into YouTube’s search box about once a month and sort videos by Upload Date to see if there have been any great WoW-based videos recently uploaded. Why do I do it? I like to think it’s because I am the sort of generous soul who willingly devotes a certain amount of time to appreciating the arts and welcomes the chance to expose my audience to the new and wonderful things our fellow human beings create. But let’s be honest, it’s mostly because I am a mediocre blogger and a half-ass WoW player who frequently runs out of post ideas. Yep, it’s because I’m lazy.

No matter the “why” of it all, it’s a glorious thing indeed when I find a real gem and can share it with the 5 of you. Today is one of those times. Not only should everyone watch this video and share it with your friends, we should totally make this a trending topic on Twitter #Shit[insert your race here]NeverSay. Make it happen people.

And now for your viewing pleasure, I proudly present Shit Orcs Never Say

TAG! I’m It

There’s a meme going around right now involving grabbing the 6th screenshot from the 6th subfolder in your images folder and I have been tagged by Mia from Chronicles of Mia. I am happily participating for two reasons: 1. I’m in a blogging slump at the moment 2. I’m nice and I enjoy being a part of this community so I’m glad for these opportunities

That being said, I have seen this is currently making the rounds to all the bloggers I follow so I am not going to tag 6 additional people since I can’t think of 6 people that likely haven’t already been tagged. Also, I don’t have 6 subfolders, so this is just the 6th image in my WoW screenshot folder.

It happens to be an old one. I was in my first guild, War Within A Breath, and I happened to be standing next to the GM’s husband in Dalaran at lvl cap 80 when he got an achievement and broke out in a random celebratory dance. We weren’t next to each other on purpose, he had no idea I was there. Pretty funny random capture. Brings back memories of the old days. I’m lucky that I am still around this guy and his wife because I love them so much.

I Have Finally Caught The Fever

This is just going to be a quick blurb of a post. I had planned a much bigger post on the subject for this past Monday but things have decided to blow up every night at work so far and my entire schedule has been thrown off. So I promise sometime in the future, when I can provide screenshots and more details about my character specifically, I will revisit this topic.

Oh wait, you don’t even know what the topic is yet. It’s transmogging. I have finally caught the fever. It’s been all the rage for quite a while now with most everyone else in Azeroth but I just never really had the energy to worry about it. I imagine that is tied to my previously mentioned “lack of love” for my main.

But now I’m rolling with a new Elfi and even though she’s low-level I am already ooohing and aaahing over the few pieces of green gear she’s gotten and tucking away the ones I like the looks of in my tiny ass bank slots. I really need to make some gold and buy more bank and bag space. So anyway, yeah, I have finally gotten excited about transmogging. I do realize that by the time I get to 85 with her I will find so many more pieces I like better than the ones I’m stashing now, but I figure I should save the pretty ones just in case. I mean, you never know what I might end up liking.

Alright, that’s it for now. Not really exciting for you guys to read but I am just thrilled to not only be really happy with my choice of new character but to also have a new in-game hobby that entertains me.

And of course, I know all you good people probably already know about this site, but in my new found love of mogging I have become addicted to Go Mog Yourself. If you don’t know about it or have never checked it out… RUN THERE IMMEDIATELY. You won’t be disappointed.

The One Where I Return To Screenshots

Being away from the game for a while has started to rekindle my desire to play again on a part-time basis. And while I will never delete Elfindale, the Night Elf Druid, I am currently very happy with my decision to roll Elfindale, the Blood Elf Mage. Granted, I’ve only logged 4 hours of play time with her and I’m only level 8. But it’s been a really enjoyable 4 hours. I really think the fresh start and the change of scenery is doing me some good.

I’m on a random server, I haven’t talked to anyone yet or searched the server for names I recognize. I even deleted my real ID contacts. I’m just puttering along, carefully reading the quest text (we’ll see how long that lasts), taking in all the pretty new sights, and laughing my ass off when I see little Elfi’s ears bounce as she runs. I’m also laughing my ass off to see her scowl at me and act all haughty and disinterested when I have her pose for a picture. I am not, and have never been, an RP’er but I can totally see little Elfi is worming her way into my heart and my brain and she is definitely developing a personality. Yes, I am excited about that.

What do I do when I’m enjoying the game? Yep, I take tons of screenshots. So here are some shots of Elfi showing me some attitude while posing and then some general ones showcasing Sunstrider Isle. Enjoy.
